Deep Pockets II Categories Print E-mail
Deep Pockets II Category Manager - Click to Enlarge Your Deep Pockets II Category Manager is the starting point for any Deep Pockets II Project. You can create as many categories as you require, and you can 'nest' these categories (place inside one another) to any depth that you require.

This is also where you will first become acquainted with the idea of Sub-Templates. Each category that you create has a number of parameters associated with it. The first and most important of these is which Category Sub-Template you will use to render the final category output. Aside from this most important parameter, each Sub-Template may have it's own unique set of associated parameters.

Deep Pockets II Public BETA Release 1 ships with 2 different Category Sub-Templates. These are the 'Default' Category Sub-Template, and the 'Document' Category Sub-Template (which you happen to be viewing at this very moment). The difference between these Category Sub-Templates is the way in which the Category Navigation works and is displayed.

This first release also includes a Menu Link Object which allows you to link any Deep Pockets II Category to any Joomla! Menu. We haven't forgotten about the mosPathWay either. As you can see from the example at the top of this very page, Deep Pockets II will faithfully render the mosPathWay according to your category structure up to the closest existing Menu Link, or the top of your category tree - whichever comes first.

Adding Custom Category Sub-Templates to your Deep Pockets II couldn't be easier. Each Category Sub-Template is comprised of 2 essential files - a PHP Class File, and an XML Parameters File. Simply adding a correctly-constructed pair (at least) of files to the subTmpl/category/ directory will make the Sub-Template available in the Administration Area.

Category Sub-Templates are located in :: components/com_deeppockets/subTmpl/category/
  • default.html << patTemplate Template File (also used by Document Sub-Template)
  • default.php << does all the work
  • default.xml << 'Default' Category Parameters

  • document.php << doing all the work now
  • document.xml << 'Document' Category Parameters
